Harley's Story
Thank you for visiting Harley. A gentle giant, Harley is loved by all who meet him. It seems strange that his life almost ended in tragedy.
I first became aware of Harley's situation when he was 5 months old. Harley's owner thought it would be "cool" to have a Great Dane for a pet. After puchasing Harley for nearly $10,000 HKD, a few months later Harley became too much for his owner to handle. Additionally, the owner's girlfried complained about how much time Harley was taking away from her and the owner left Harley in a small pet shop cage to be resold. Sadley, Harley was not given the exercise, nutrition or attention he needed and he became very sick. Malnourished, skin problems, joint problems and a fear of being left behind was now Harley's life. Left in his small cage for 2 months, Harley was taken by another family who also decided he was too much to handle and gave him back to the petshop.
In the end, Harley was in 5 homes in 7 months. When I heard Harley was in danger of dying, I worked with other animal welfare people and was able to get Harley transported to my home. It took many months of rehabilitation but Harely finally got better.
Today, Harley has fully recovered from his illnesses and loves spending time with anyone who will show him some kindness.
